India Mobile Congress- Curtain Raiser, 2019

New Delhi, 27th July 2019: Hon’ble Minister of Communications, Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice, Government of India, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, today announced the third edition of the India Mobile Congress 2019 (IMC 2019), scheduled for 14-16th October, 2019 at Aerocity in New Delhi.

Speaking at the curtain raiser, Hon’ble Minister, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, said, “India Mobile Congress is an annual gathering of the top telecom and Digital technology companies in India and I urge all the industry leaders, brands, innovators, academia and the policy makers to come together to make IMC the biggest technology show in Asia.

Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad also stated, “We are hopeful that with the concerted efforts, from all corners, celebrating the true spirit of digital India, this event will be a grand success.

Smt. Aruna Sundararajan, Chairperson, DCC and Secretary (T), DoT, Ministry of Communications, Government of India and Shri Anshu Prakash, Additional Secretary (T), DoT, Ministry of Communications, Government of India also graced the occasion as guest of honour.

The prestigious event, jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and COAI, will see 40+ participating countries, 300+ exhibitors and 250+ speakers this year.

Considered the biggest tech event in Asia, IMC 2019, will carry forward its legacy of being the event to display, discuss, unveil, imbibe, educate and recognize the importance of the global and Indian telecommunications, mobile, internet connectivity and digital services sector to the world.

The third iteration of the event boasts of India’s biggest technology exhibition, an international conference on digital technology, award functions and B2B/B2G networking meets. At the curtain raiser, the IMC Grand Innovation Challenge in collaboration with AGNIi and Invest India was also announced that will recognise the contributions and innovations in research in the fields of telecommunications and emerging technologies.

With the theme ‘Imagine: a new CONNECTED world; Intelligent. Immersive. Inventive.’, IMC 2019, highlights the inclusive technological aspirations, widened applications, stronger bonds between people, greater symbiosis between technology and regulatory trends, intelligent technology and the future tech trends. The theme is further sub-divided into 9 sub-themes: augmented analytics, autonomous things, future logistics, immersive world, intelligent edge, inventive unicorns, mHealth, privacy and ethics and smart spaces. It is expected that the event will lead to cementing India’s position as a leading center for connectivity, innovation, policy development and commercial opportunities.

Mr Rajan Mathews, Director General, COAI, said, “We are thankful to our Hon’ble Minister, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad for his immense support and guidance in successfully reaching the third year of this grand event. We are also grateful to the Government of India for the huge effort put into this and for providing a facilitative environment to the entire industry. With all this help, India Mobile Congress has established itself as the biggest technology event in South Asia and the biggest networking event in India in the digital technology space. We are sure that all stakeholders will look forward to this platform for launches and releases of new technologies. Officials and senior decision makers from both the Government as well as the industry will be present and tech companies will be displaying the best that this ecosystem has to offer at this marquee event of the country.

 

The biggest event in India, in terms of scale and scope, IMC also has the support of other ministries like the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways amongst others and will be attended by senior government representatives from the centres and different states. This year, the event will see 5000+ CXO level delegates and expects to engage over 75000 visitors. The huge public-private collaboration thus attained, will truly translate the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India’s vision of digitally empowered India
